Random bit of engrish at Andrew + Japan = Awesome

Random bit of engrish

I was walking home the other night the exact same way I’ve walked since I came to Japan, out of the railway station, past Konami, across the street, and past the car park. Past the school, across the road, and into our building. But this night, I noticed something that I had never noticed before. There is a drinks vending machine outside the car park.

Now this by itself is certainly nothing out of the ordinary. I’ve seen vending machines in places far stranger than outside a car park.

What was amusing about this vending machine was the writing at the bottom.

Its too bad all the canned beverage was coffee, because could have done with something to make me feel refresh. That truly would have been outstanding among others.

I never understood the jokes with “Engrish.” Yeah, I laugh along with you guys to humor you all, but really, I don’t get it. :(

I guess it’s because my mom and her friends speak that way, and it sounds “perfect” to me. People make fun of them when they speak, but really, rather than it being “Engrish” I just see it as a different form of it (the English language). o.o

Take, for instance, when I have to translate some paperwork to my mother. Since I’m not fluent in Tagalog, I have to translate using that “Engrish” you speak of.

But with my life story aside, you can really see the drinks in the vending machines over there? That’s actually pretty cool; we’re stuck with stupid “PRESS ME” pictures. Honestly, no one’s going to bother to take a drink from the glass here. They’ll just steal the ENTIRE vending machine and stick it in the back of a pickup truck. XD

I’m going to study some Victorian stuff right now. Since a certain person named Andrew is doing a fantabulous job ignoring my 5786978690860 messages on AIM.
