Just a really quick post because I’m moving to my new apartment tomorrow. I’ve been packing lots (turns out I have a lot of stuff), and have a long train journey ahead of me tomorrow. If you click the read more link you can see a video tour of my current (old) apartment. I’ll make one of the new apartment when I get there, though I anticipate it will be much shorter.

It’s been a long time coming, but Friday the 28th of September finally arrived, and with it came the day that I had booked to see Cirque Du Soleil in Osaka.
So the other night, I’m sitting in my apartment minding my own business and watching XXX (thought I hadn’t seen it, turns out I had, but it’s always nice to see something in English on TV), when I notice a commotion on the balcony opposite mine. From my lounge I can see right into the entranceway of the apartment building opposite mine, and there were suddenly a lot of people there, some of whom were yelling.
The rice field behind my apartment is now empty. Even the frogs have abandoned it. I left my apartment one day last week, and found the farmer riding along on his little harvester… machine.. thing. I was fascinated, so I stood there for a good fifteen minutes watching him and taking photos. I’m sure it’s quite normal for Japanese people, but I for one have never seen rice growing in a field. Click the link for photos of the harvester, photos of rice, and a video.
I was going to go to Akashi to get my Japanese drivers licence yesterday, but then I slept in and didn’t. So instead I went today. Getting to Akashi was a bit of a mission, I had to wake up just after 6 to get on a train, and I didn’t arrive in Akashi until 9. Then I had to catch a bus for 20 minutes from the train station to the licensing center, I arrived there just before 9.30.
After passing the valley of fields, the building where you can buy manga while your car is repaired, and the pachinko parlor, I finally reached a sign that claimed Flower Town was a mere 0.6km away.
After my three almost deadly encounters with wildlife, I eventually emerged into a vast valley which seemed to be solid rice fields from one side to the other. There were a few small houses, and even a man working in one of the fields.
After leaving the strange pseudo suburbia, I found a large sign that thankfully had Flower Town written on it, so I set off in the indicated direction hoping that it wasn’t a cruel joke.

Last week I went to Aeon (the large mall on the outskirts of Sanda, technically in Kobe) because I needed a cable for my computer. I got my cable and went to the bus stop to wait for the bus. I waited. And waited. And waited. And no bus came. It was quite a nice day, not too hot, and I could see Flower Town from where I was sitting, so I decided to walk home instead of catching the (late) bus.

Just to make this absolutely clear, since “Today was my last day of working at Nova” is too complicated for some people. I NO LONGER work for Nova. I quit the day this post was made. I have been paid for the month of August, and don’t expect to be paid for the two weeks I worked in September, if I do it’ll be a nice bonus. Stop posting comments telling me I won’t be paid, I know.Â
Today was my last day of working at Nova. The last time I mentioned it I was going to leave at the end of the month, unfortunately Nova made some decisions which made me move my resignation up to today. As of right now I am no longer a Nova employee, and it feels great.
