And now, I present the conclusion of this tale. If you recall, our hero previously visited Osaka Aquarium, and took a ride on a 112.5 meter tall observation wheel. When we last saw him he was getting on a train, but the train was going in the wrong direction. Where will it take him?
When I got back to the train station, I was only one stop from the end of the line, and I saw that the end of the line was called Cosmo Square. Cosmo Square! How could I not get on that train and check it out? So I did. It cost me 200 yen from Osakako to Cosmo Square. I got off the train expecting to see flashing lights and all sorts of wondrous sights. I saw nothing.
Cosmo Square is the single worst place I’ve been in Japan since I got here. The place was abandoned, there were no cars on the (very wide) roads, and the only people I saw were business men walking…. somewhere. I was convinced that there had to be more to Cosmo Square than what I was seeing, so I set off in the direction that looked the most alive.
I headed towards this building, which I later found out was called Cosmo Tower. It was kind of hard to miss. Turns out that like the rest of Cosmo Square, there was nothing there. However, near Cosmo Tower I did see this remarkably stunning poster on the side of a building.
I wandered aimlessly for a while longer, and found this absolutely mad intersection. I hope the roads in Nagoya aren’t like this, because while I stood there I saw many cars make turns that I was sure weren’t legal.
By this time I was a good half hour from where I started, and it was really hot. So I decided to try and find a train station to get back towards Umeda. I eventually did find a train station and got on the train. When the train pulled up I noticed it was much shorter than a normal train. After a few stops I looked around and realised that the train had no driver. The train was running on full automatic. It made me kind of worried, but I got to the other end in one piece and transferred onto the train I wanted. An hour or so later I got back to Sanda, very tired.
So that concludes my adventure in Osaka. Hope you enjoyed it.
I still say you should get in that guy’s outfit and take a picture.
